Networking
We converted to a wireless network over the weekend using a Linksys Wireless-N Broadband router; it was surprisingly painless. The installation is predicated on running an install CD and the installation program essentially surveys your system environment and then provides detailed steps on proceeding (very detailed, such as: unplug <this> plug from <this> device, then unplug …. and includes animated diagrams showing the suggested event occurring). My biggest concern was the handling of the issue that we already had a wired Linksys network router already in place. The install program handled this deftly, identifying that it existed, recommending it be replaced, and proceeding to tell you how, step-by-step.
The original wired broadband router install was much more complicated and required accessing and editing the router admin functions via manual entries; adding devices to the network was an additional set of tasks. Negotiating the firewall alerts and operations was also involved. None of this occurred (or occurred behind the human scenes) for this installation.

Here is a practice image from the free Google 3D drawing software called “SketchUp”. The image needs cropping and better sizing, but that is for later …..

Results of GIMP perspective adjusting
The un-adjusted photograph of the brilliant maple in front of the dome on the Maine State House building this week (above).
A slightly different image of the State House with perspective adjusted (below). Note the verticals of the south wing on the right in each image. The image manipulation applied to alter the inward slanted building form comes at a cost of image clarity.
